About an hour ago I set out with the intention of updating the blog and ended up playing minesweeper instead. I’ve not played minesweeper with any real intensity for about 5 years. Odd how that works!

Unless you’ve never visited the site before, you’ll most likely notice that the welcome page has been updated. The gallery highlight picture (currently “Where’s the bride?”) has increased in size, a new layout is introduced, and a new site descriptive thrown into the mix as well. I think it works much better than the old layout…

It just occured to me in my current sleepy state, that the look & feel (ugh, corporate speak - I must be tired) doesn’t really fit the general sense of humour that really underlies the true nature of the site. But then again, on some more reflection - it does, as the HP Sauce bottle itself is much the same way, understated, somewhat conservative yet friendly and welcoming. Perhaps the site has a good fit to it afterall…

I received a lot of HP pics from an online friend in Australia the other day, the first of which I’ve highlighted on the main page. I’ll add more when the mood strikes me. For now I’ll leave the one the teaser up.

Earlier this month I received an artistic submission from another online friend , this time in Denmark. It had me and my co-worker mezmorised! When the timing is right, I’ll post it to the gallery.

…just a bit of house cleaning today. I had a look at the site with Internet Explorer, something I’ve not done since shortly after the site was launched. I noticed a few rendering errors which I’ve since cleaned up. By the way, does anyone still use Internet Explorer?

I’ve changed the font for the blog to Georgia, Serif. It gives the blog more of a real bloggy feel to it methinks.

In regards to the little quip on the opening page of the site which reads “Welcome to the ‘Secret Sect of HP sauce lovers’!”

It strikes me that this opening statement is somewhat inapropriate given my general intentions for the site - that being a friendly place to share experiences through pictures of a favourite condiment. I’ll save the “is it a condiment or a sauce (in the same class as say…gravy)” for another day.

The site is neither “secret”, nor is it a “sect”. In fact, this statement was only put up as a laugh when it was suggested to me by a friend when I was first constructing the site. Upon reflection I’m not sure that his intentions were entirely honerable with that statement. Regardless, I intend to change it. Helpful suggestions for a site slogan are of course always welcome.

One more thing, I’ve decided to give the gallery a random shuffle - it was just time to shake things around a bit and to see what floats to the top.
