For some reason I’ve struggled with the prospect of collecting my thoughts and submitting them for todays entry. I’m not really sure why this is the case, afterall a blog is simply a reflection of events which, in this instance has to do with having a laugh with HP sauce…which is precisely what I did! *confused look*
…reflecting
Okay, what I’m struggling with has to do with how people generally respond to the idea of this site. Often I find people fall into two distinct camps - the third camp simply remains indifferent to the idea and requires no further exploration (read: lost cause). In these two remaning camps, there are those who immediately grasp the humour of having a picture taken of themselves with a bottle of HP and placing it in a public forum for the whole world to see. Take for instance yesterday morning …
I woke up knowing I had a long day ahead of me and immediately started thinking of what I could do to make the day a little less mundane. I had a chiropractic appointment that morning and wondered to myself “Should I?”. I knew that once I had that initial thought, there’d be no way I’d be able to get around bringing the HP bottle and camera to my appointment. So off I went…
In the chiropractic office, I placed the bottle on the desk and waited. When my chiropractor came in, he immediately saw the bottle - puzzlement was written on his face. He finally said “…ok, we use the sauce to rub into your back is that it?” followed later with “…I’ve encountered ketchup before, but never HP sauce!
*just kidding*”
After the business of getting “cricked” was over with, I explained to him about this little site I ran…his response was immediate. “Cool! Do I get to pick what pose to do with the bottle?” he asked. :-O “Of course!” I said. I took the picture, and with both of us laughing I said “…that’s awesome. I thought you’d have a sense of humour about this!”
This is a perfect example of somone who just “gets it”. No lengthy explanation required and I walk away with a smile on my face which lasts the whole day.
As for those that don’t…”get it”. I think I’ll leave that for another time and and leave this entry on a high. Thanks for the pic Dr. C!
