When it rains…

Thursday, September 01st, 2005

This past weekend was a big one here at www.brownsauce.org. On Saturday I received an email from Pauline, someone I’d met some time ago though the Human League forum. Another mutual friend of ours, Karen from Australia was travelling to the UK and Ireland to see The Human League perform and Pauline (with her contacts with the band and using subtle persuasive skills I’m sure) had arranged for Karen to visit The Human League’s studio while in Sheffield, UK.

One really should give props to The Human League for allowing a fan coming from Australia to have direct access like this, as I’m sure any fan would be absolutely thrilled for such an opportunity.

They spent a luffly 4 hours with Dave Beevers, who was gracious enough to give them both the grand tour. At the end of it all Pauline asked ‘the question’:

Pauline: “Do you mind if we take some HP Sauce pictures?”
    DB: “ya wot?”
Pauline: “HP Sauce pictures for Brad’s site.”
DB: “Ohh yeah, that site. I was just thinking about brown sauce the other day.”
    Pauline & Karen both: :-O <--shocked
DB: "It's a bit mad innit? I looked it up after I saw a posting on the forum."
Pauline: "Well, he IS Canadian ;-)"
DB: "Sure go ahead & take some pictures."
    Pauline & Karen both: :-D

I’m told, that DB himself suggested taping the HP Sauce bottle to the band’s own setlist on the whiteboard! That’s a great pic! Thanks DB for being such a good sport about it all, and thanks Pauline for submitting the pictures & helping to contribute to the madness. :-)

I’ve since sent DB a thank you email, and went as far as suggesting he keep the bottle taped to the whiteboard to see what the other band members thought of it. Perhaps there’s a song in it somewhere eh? ;-)

So far I’ve not received a reply so I can only assume he’s looking into it!

Speaking of songs, I DID receive my first ever song entry to the site, and it’s now listed as the official theme song of www.brownsauce.org. How many websites have a theme song anyway??

The story behind the song is this. Last Friday, Adham and I were having a lil chat on msn where he mentioned that I should have a theme song for the site. A few moments later, I came up with some lyrics which I envisioned as The Human League could only deliver.

    Brad: Phil: “Brownsauce obsessions!”
    Brad: Girls: “yeah yeah yeah”
Brad: Phil: “How do you spice up that mystery meeeat”
    Brad: Phil: “Brownsauce obsessions”
    Brad: Girls: “oooh, that’s sweeeet!”
    Adham: *dies of laughter*

Not 36 hours later, I had this in my inbox:

This is absolutely brilliant Adham! Thanks so much for putting this together for the site! I’ve listened to it dozens of times by now and still each time I listen, I’m in stitches! This is what the site is all about. If someone got a kick out of this like I did…than it’s all worth while. :-D

It might look like I'm doing nothing here, but at the cellular level I'm really quite busy.
