HP Deluxe Marinated Steak

This recipe comes to us from our Australian correspondent Karen K. The recipe was on a tag (included with bottles of HP Sauce) as part of an Australian promotional campaign entitled “sizzling summer recipes”.

HP Deluxe Marinated Steak

Ingredients

    Beef steak 6 to 10oz. (200 – 300g)


    Marinade:

    • 2 Tbsp. (30 ml) HP Sauce
    • 2 Tbsp. (30 ml) Soy sauce
    • 2 Tbsp. (30 ml) Balsamic vinegar
    • 1 Tbsp. (15 ml) Dijon mustard
    • 1/4 cup (50 ml) Olive oil

    Sauce:

    • 2 Shallots
    • 2 Tbsp (30 ml) HP Sauce
    • 2 Tbsp (30 ml) Butter
    • 1/4 cup (50 ml) Red wine
    • 1 – 2 tps (2 – 5 ml) Fresh thyme (optional)

Preparation:

    • Whisk together marinade ingredients and pour over steak.
    • Marinate for at least 30 minutes in fridge
    • Preheat grill until hot
    • Grill steak for about 3 to 5 minutes a side for medium rare.
    • To make sauce, saute shallots in butter, add red wine and reduce by half, then add HP Sauce, juices from steak and fresh thyme.
    • Place steak on plate, drizzle with sauce and serve.

Preparation: 5 mins (not inluding marinating)
Cooking: 6 – 8 mins
Serves: 1
